Calquico is a traditional farmhouse property nestled in the tranquil Catalonian countryside, just an hour north-west of Barcelona. On the front of the property is a major stone with the date 1897.
Set on a plot of 7,000m2 and in extensive, landscaped grounds, Calquico includes a main family house or Masia, a self-contained villa, large swimming pool and stunning views across the valley towards the famous mountain of Montserrat.
The two separate properties give the opportunity for guests (paying or otherwise). Both having stunning views over Montserrat and clear countryside between.
The "Bed- sit" style of the bedroom in the Volta Catalana with en-suite bathroom and a large enough bedroom to include a sitting area. It also has its own front door so could again be let to paying guests. It would also be perfect for any accompanying disabled relatives.
The top floor of the main masia could also be very easily converted to an independent suite with its own access if required.
So a couple who wanted an income as a Guest House would have Four en-suite bedrooms available (the two in the Casita being self-catering of course), as well as one additional bedroom for their own private guests.
The 12m x 6m pool overlooking the view to Montserrat and is totally private.
Both properties have retained their rustic attractiveness but are also very comfortable and easily maintained.
The gardens around the properties are dog-safe as we leave our own Red Setter in the garden when we go out locally.
The numerous terraces all benefit from the views and have lighting and power.
The local village of Fonollsa is 5mins and has several amenities ( see website). ST Joan de Vilatorada is 15 mins and Manresa and Calaf are 20mins with all facilities. Rajadell is 15mins and has a direct train line through Manresa to Placa Catalunya in the centre of Barcelona.
Skiing and France are one and a half hours easy drive.
With guaranteed summer sun and mild winters, Calquico is the perfect retreat for those wanting a taste of traditional Catalonian life.
